Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: All rumours, leaks, and release date

This July will provide us with another Samsung presentation, which signals the launch of their new Galaxy Watch. It will be the first time we will be able to lay our eyes upon the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. Until that moment arrives, we can take a look at all the leaks and rumours surrounding the Galaxy Watch 6's replacement.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 release date and price

New Galaxy Watches are almost certain to be released in August. It leads us to conclude that August of 2024 will be the release date of the new Galaxy Watch 7. A more exact date will have to wait until after the event.

The Galaxy Watch 7 will be announced at the Samsung Unpacked event. This is a large press release moment for the brand to announce their newest products. The event will be taking place in July of 2024, most likely on wednesday, July 10th.

Any predictions surrounding the price are harder to judge. The inflation has led to some wild fluctuations in the prices of smartwatches over the last few years. We're expecting a minimum sale price of £ 275 for the base model. The Pro model is rumoured to make a return, we expect the price to be over £ 400 for this.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: All models

The announcement of the Galaxy Watch 6 brought a return of the 'Classic' model. This year however, there's strong rumours that a 'Pro' will be part of the model line-up, likely replacing the Classic once again. The models on offer will be as following:

  • Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 - 40mm
  • Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 - 44mm
  • Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Pro

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 will almost certainly be available in two sizes. Both sizes will have offerings of the base model, or an LTE model which has 4G (or 5G?) support. The price of the LTE will be slightly higher.

Some rumours are suggesting that a square face design is 'enthusiastically being played with' within Samsung's design team. We highly suspect that is is merely exploratory in nature, and the design of the Galaxy Watch 7 will remain round.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 design

The design of the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is not set to change anytime soon. Samsung has been trying to push a standardised design in the last few years, securing a recognisable watch, similar to how Apple designs its watches.

No photos or renders of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 have been leaked yet, but expectations all around are all but confirming a high similarity to the Galaxy Watch 6. What the 'new' Galaxy Watch 7 pro will look like, is unclear as of now. It might have a size of 45mm.

It's to be expected that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 straps will be the same as the Galaxy Watch 6 straps. This means you'll be able to swap over your old straps, if you so desire.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 processor

A new chipset for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 was already leaked at the start of this year. It will be getting the Exynos W940 processing unit. It's quite remarkable to say the least, as the previous chipset (W930) has only been placed on one previous model.

It normally takes Samsung several iterations of the smartwatch to replace the chip. The previous chip was newly applied on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6. Most expected that this 'old' chip would be re-used on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7.

So what does the new chip mean? There's a claimed increase of 30% in speed and 50% in efficiency. The extra speed is nice for smoother animations and more capable apps, but the efficiency will really make the difference. It wil have a positive impact on the battery life of the new Watch 7.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 features

Not many features have been leaked yet, but we can atleast assume that the Galaxy Watch 7 will feature the same functions as the Galaxy Watch 6. It will include many different sensors for sports, as well as a GPS unit and more.

One feature has been all but confirmed however: a sleep apnea detector. It's been approved for use by the FDA and Samsung has stated it will be introduced in the third quarter of 2024. It lines up perfectly with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 release.

In summary

The new Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 will be released in August of this year. If you're a fan of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, you're in luck, because the Galaxy Watch 7 Pro will be returning this year. There's strong rumours suggesting a new chipset which boosts perormance and battery life.

More details will be announced in july, when the Samsung Unpacked event has taken place. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 will be announced here.
